Business Development Representative (BDR)

What is Business Development Representative (BDR)?

A Business Development Representative, or BDR, is the icebreaker of the sales team. Their main job is to find and qualify potential new customers. They do the initial outreach, like cold calling and emailing, to start conversations and see if there's a good fit. They don't typically close the deals themselves. Instead, once they've identified a promising lead, they pass it over to an account executive to take it to the finish line. In a partner program, a BDR might focus on recruiting new partners, making them the first point of contact for companies looking to join the ecosystem.
